As I wait to apply to the Silver Fern Work Visa, I took a vacation this week (first one I have had since May for a wedding) and went with my boyfriend and three friends to go surf in Baja Mexico. It was such a nice trip and we surfed twice a day, ate waaaay to much shrimp tacos, drank plenty of Tacate and Pacifico, and generally just relaxed. We stayed at this gated community Los Gaviotas and is a favorite of all of ours, my boyfriend has been going down there since he was a teenager. Its a great community and very safe as it is guarded around the clock. There is a great little surf spot right out front that we surfed in the afternoons when the tide dropped. They also have these amazing tide pools that have a abundance of sea life, I went down there every evening (Tacate in hand) and just looked around.
The first and second day we went to La Fonda to go surfing (beach break with some really fun waves) and we had a blast. I will say though I did see a fin in the water, followed by a bunch of fish jumping (what were they running from!!!) so I got out a little early. I don’t think the boys believed me but I swear I saw one in the lineup.
The last day, we packed up and stopped at Rosarito Beach to go to Los Pelicanos for breakfast which is a hotel and restaurant right on the water. The enchiladas were amazing, and I think the restaurant and hotel is a hidden gem that I will be definitely be coming back to. It’s a shame that all the tourists left due to security reasons and haven’t made it back because it’s all the friendly people in the hospitality industry down here who are suffering. I really hope Baja pulls their act together sometime in the future because all the locals we met were awesome and so welcoming.
Here are some pictures taken by me over the last few days!
